ENOUGH tool: cold chain simulator

ENOUGH tool is a software for optimizing food quality, energy use and environmental impact of cold chain. The user selects a specific food product and defines a cold chain. The user can choose default settings or can define the settings of a specific cold chain to the lowest level of detail.

This tool has been developped in the european ENOUGH project 

STEP: Kinetics of changes in food quality

Product quality criteria such as vitamin and water content, colour and texture change over time depending on storage temperature. The tool developed here as part of the STEP working group with the support of INRAE's Public Policy Support Department makes it possible to estimate the evolution of these quality criteria based on their initial value, storage duration and temperature.

Refrigerated vehicle

Vehicle model

A simplified heat transfer model of a refrigerated vehicle was developed in which two loads (front and rear) are considered. The model takes into account heat transfer by convection between the internal air and the load, between the external air and the walls of vehicle and by conduction in these walls. Air infiltration during door openings is also considered.
