METFRI and ENERFRI teams

The research unit's teams focus on refrigeration equipment/processes, with the METFRI team focusing on "equipment-food" interaction and the ENERFRI team on "equipment-energy" interaction. The two teams are highly complementary, with shared scientific objectives:

  • To model food processes at different scales (crystal, bubble, drop, multiphase fluids, laboratory prototypes, industrial-scale prototypes)
  • To develop physical characterization tools for products and processes
  • To optimize and eco-design processes (via numerical models), with strong energy, environmental, health and socio-economic constraints
Equipes

METFRI research team

Optimisation of flows and heat and mass transfer in cold chain and processes

The Metfri team's research focuses on the interaction between products and refrigeration equipment, with a view to optimizing the cold chain from factory to consumer, using a multi-criteria modeling approach integrating product quality, microbiological risks and energy consumption.

ENERFRI research team

Energy-efficient, environmentally-friendly refrigeration systems

The ENERFRI team's research focuses on the interaction between cold production and refrigeration equipment, to limit their energy and environmental impact.
